This website will be undergoing a massive transformation over the coming weeks, as the founder of WSSDA no longer resides in Washington State due to the failing medical system. Since the beginning, one sole disabled handler/trainer has been funding and maintaining this website, as well as answering calls and emails. Unfortunately, the difficult decision was made to end our phone service in order to focus resources and finances towards the future of this educational site, and to better serve the Community.

Going forward, this site will shift away from being state-specific, but will still contain resources for each individual state, including Washington. The goal is to broaden our educational offerings and resources to every service dog handler, trainer/program, business, landlord/housing provider, government entity, and member of the public– regardless of geographical location. Service dogs are utilized throughout the United States and in many other countries across the globe, and we aim to help as many people as possible learn about service dog handlers’ rights and responsibilities, along with providing training tips, ethics and etiquette, handler stories, and possibly even a program & trainer directory.

We understand that this is a major change, but it is a positive one that will allow for more frequent updates and blog posts. It has been an honor and a privilege to have worked with so many wonderful Washingtonians and various government entities around the state, and we are excited to extend our connections to others throughout the globe.
